1. abashed 窘迫的,尴尬的 It means embarrassed and awkward in someone's presence, esp. because of sth. you have done or said that do not approve of. eg. He looked rather abashed at her criticisms.她的批评使他看上去相当困窘。
2. burgher 公民,市民(县主要指某些欧洲国家中产阶级的市民或镇民) It means a citizen of a towm or a burough; a comfortable or complacent member of the middle class. eg. Their wild behavior outraged the respectable burghers of Oxford.他们的粗野行为激怒了一向爱体面的牛津市民。
3. cache 隐藏处所,储藏物;高速缓冲存储器 隐藏,窖藏 It means a hiding place used esp. for storing provisions; the store of goods or valuable conedaled in a hiding place; a fast storage buffer in the central processing unit of a computer; hide or store in a cache eg. 6. felicity 幸福,运气,福气;(措辞等)恰当,巧妙 It means great happiness; bliss; an appropriate and pleasing manner or style; an instance of appropriate and pleasing manner or style eg. He is a writer of fluency and felicity, of graciousness and gentleness. 他文笔流畅,措辞得体,是一位文雅而且温和的作家。
7. gaiety 快乐、活泼快乐或愉快的状态;庆典、庆祝活动 It means a state of joyful excuberance or merriment; vivacity; merry of joyful activity; festivity eg. I felt there was an air of forced gaiety about hei manner.我感觉到她的举止中有强作欢颜的样子。
8. jaded 疲倦不堪的,厌倦的;迟钝的 It means worn out, wearied; dulled by surfeit; sated eg. My father's words had left me jaded and depressed.父亲的话使我感到疲惫和沮丧。
9. radiance 辐射,辐射的性质或状态;光辉 It means the quality or state of being radiant; (heat ot light) to be produced eg. We basked in the radiance of African sun.我们在非洲太阳的光辉里晒暖。
